In June 2013, my husband and I left jobs and home to explore the world. My memoir, Call It Wonder: an odyssey of love, sex, spirit, and travel, tells this story...and more.

I write. And I coach other writers. I also edit and ghostwrite. I love helping people unleash and shape their stories.

I'm the author of a memoir, two novels, two collections of poems, and a book about teaching.  A former columnist for elephant journal, I hold a PhD from the University of Washington and an MFA from San Jose State University.

For many years, I taught university-level writing. I also barely survived teaching in an American high school, and I taught all ages in Japan. My most recent educational adventures were teaching creative writing at a university in Nanning, China and leading a writing retreat in Thailand.

As a girl, I dreamed of becoming a traveling writer. Finally, that dream has come true. I'm grateful to be learning that, as Michel Foucault said, "we are freer than we think."
